The K Club (Kildare, Ireland) -- When it comes to legendary golf courses, The K Club certainly makes the list. Located 30 minutes from Dublin, the resort's Ryder Cup course and the Smurfit course are both designed by golf legend, Arnold Palmer. Recognized as one of Europe's most spectacular courses, the parkland Ryder Cup course is challenging and dramatic with an impeccable layout and design. Ranked regularly in the top 3 parkland golf courses in Ireland, this course has hosted the world's top golf professionals for many championship events in addition to The Ryder Cup, including the Irish Open and many European Opens. The Smurfit course is a challenging "island links" course with landscapes and dune style mounding that ensure a completely different experience from the Ryder Cup course.

Aghadoe Heights Hotel & Spa (Killarney, Ireland) -- Aghadoe Heights' location allows easy access to an unbelievable selection of championship parkland and famous links courses in southwest Ireland, making it the ideal base for golf enthusiasts. The hotel offers a fantastic vantage point overlooking Killarney Golf & Fishing Club, host of the 2010 and 2011 Irish Open (see photo above). Other favorite courses within easy access of Aghadoe Heights include: Ballybunion, Waterville, Tralee, Dooks, Dingle and Beaufort. The Aghadoe Heights team can assist with early breakfast, book tee times, plan golf schedules and arrange private lessons. They even have their own helicopter pad to help guests make those early tee times!

Fitzwilliam Hotel Belfast (Belfast, N. Ireland) -- With motorway access just a few blocks from the hotel, the Fitzwilliam Hotel Belfast is the perfect base to play the city's five most prestigious parkland courses, all within 15-minutes of the hotel. Closest to the city is Belvoir Park Golf Club which feels especially secluded with its tree-lined fairways and surrounding views of the Black Mountains. Malone Golf Club, host of this year's Irish Senior Championship, covers 330 acres and boasts three nine-hole layouts, two of which form its championship 18-hole course (see photo above). The Royal Belfast Golf Club -- Northern Ireland's oldest -- sits along Belfast Lough making it a perfect course for cruise ship passengers. Shandon Park and Hollywood Golf Club (home course of Northern Ireland native and triple Major champion, Rory McIlroy), round out the city's easily accessible parkland courses.

Forte Village (Sardinia, Italy) -- At Forte Village, golfers have the opportunity to play a round of golf while enjoying the natural beauty of southern Sardinia, complete with beautiful beaches and crystal-clear water. Couples can leave the kids to enjoy the amazing "Children's Wonderland" (4 - 47 months) or "Mario's Kids Club" (4 - 7 years) and escape to the resort's driving range and "pitch and putt" green, or experience the spectacular 27-hole Is Molas Golf Club course just a short drive away (pictured above). Regarded as having one of the most stimulating and technically challenging golf courses in the Mediterranean, Is Molas Golf Club has hosted four Italian Opens and a European Volvo Masters event. The offering of both an 18-hole course (par-72, 6383 meters) and 9-hole course (par-36, 3155 meters) allows great flexibility for parents who need to reclaim their children at Forte Village!

Royal Hotel Sanremo (Sanremo, Liguria, Italy) -- Sure to satisfy any avid golfer seeking a break from the hotel's water sports and beach activity are Royal Hotel Sanremo's two nearby course options. The first, Golf Club "Ca' degli Ulivi", is nestled among olive trees on the hills above Sanremo and boasts magnificent views over the town & sea below (see photo above). The 18-hole, par-69 course measures 5,203 meters and is just a 15 minute drive from the hotel. While the course is not overly long, its narrow holes designed by Peter Gannon pose a challenge that require technical ability and precision. Located in a picturesque valley of the Ligurian hinterland, the "Golf Club Garlenda" is just 40 minutes from the Royal Hotel Sanremo. Open year round, this 18-hole, par-72 course measures 6,085 meters and allows golfers to enjoy a wonderful view over the sea and Maritime Alps.

Terme di Saturnia Spa & Golf Resort (Maremma, Tuscany) -- Terme di Saturnia, surrounded by Tuscany's infinite rolling hills and enhanced by a climate for year round golf, makes for an ideal golf destination. Just 100 meters from the hotel is their 18-hole, par-72 championship golf course set on over 170 acres of undulating Tuscan terrain. Designed by Californian architect Ronald Fream of the internationally renowned Golfplan Studio, this eco-friendly course has been conceived with total respect for the environment. Clients can improve their game on the two driving ranges with guidance from professional golf instructors and access to video camera facilities and high-tech swing analysis equipment.

Country Club Lima Hotel (Lima, Peru) -- The newly renovated Country Club Lima Hotel, located in one of Lima's most elite neighborhoods, is just steps away from the highly regarded Lima Golf Club (see photo above). Clients at the hotel can access this exclusive private golf club's facilities, and play the 18-hole, par-72, 6950-yard course. With a desert-style layout, the course, juxtaposed against the city skyline on one side and with stunning views of the mountains and nearby coastline on the other, features expansive fairways hewn through rocks and ravines.
